Abstract
The article analyzes the legal nature of the contract for the temporary transfer (loan) of professional athletes. The author substantiates the contradiction of the term “loan” to the principles of civil law and, based on a comparative legal analysis, proves the need to recognize this contract as a sui generis (unique) legal phenomenon.
